Harwood Marine

Harwood Marine is your one-stop-shop for all things boating. As boat owners ourselves, we understand the convenience of having all services together in one place.

That is why we have a large, diverse team ready to assist you with your boating questions.

Management & administration

Our wonderful administration team handle the daily running of the business. We currently have nine members in our administration, who handle the following areas:

Sales and marketing
Project management
Design services – naval architects and draftsman
Human resource & payroll management
Account and financial management
Compliance management – safety, quality and environment
Administration and clerical services.

Fabrication & welding

The fabrication and welding team make up the largest group of the team, with 34 Fabricator Welders. The team are experienced in the welding and fabrication of heavy steel, aluminium and stainless steel.

We keep a rotating group of apprentices in this trade, ranging from first-year intakes to fourth year. Due to the complexity of the welds they have to learn, as well as the high volume of output, we are proud to say our apprentices develop into sine of the best tradesman in Australia.

Fitter Machinists

Our fitting team are responsible for both new builds and installations, as well as repair services, maintenance works and plant and machinery repairs.

Their work is extremely diverse and involves a great deal of problem-solving. No two jobs are generally the same – adaptive skills are essential in this role.

Mechanical fitouts and new builds
Repairs and maintenance of plant and machinery
Use of lathes, mill machines and drills
The interpretation of technical drawings
Modifications
Hydraulics.

Planting & blasting, labourers & trade assistants

Our painting and abrasive blasting team mostly work alongside our repair sector, but also carry out work in our build area.

They are assisted by a great team of labourers, who ensure that blast pots are kept full, regular clean-ups occur, and assist with machinery and loads.

Surface Preparation and Treatment of Metals
Paint Application
Detail Finishing
Masking and Signage
Operation of Elevated Work Platforms and Machinery.

Electricians

One of the smaller teams at Harwood, our sparkies form an essential part of our team.

They are responsible for both the repair and new build sectors of the business, and ensure our electrical equipment is maintained and is functioning optimally.

Interpreting engineering drawings
Planning out electrical schematics
Procurement, installation and commissioning of electrical systems and electronic equipment such as sounders, navigation systems, machinery, lighting and safety equipment
Testing of electrical systems
Testing and tagging electrical leads and equipment.

Boat Builders/Shipwrights

Their team may be small, but they are a critical cog in the Harwood wheel.

Our boat builders carry out repairs and finishing on both new and old vessels, working with a variety of materials.

Crew

The crew members of our team are responsible for providing towage and vessel assistance services for ships and barges coming in and out of port.
